1777 Northern Campaign Tour

These tours recreate the failed attempt by British General John Burgoyne in 1777 to resupply his starving army with supplies known to be cached in Bennington Vermont. Burgoyne was on his way to Albany, NY but was stopped in Saratoga in what is commonly termed the "Turning Point of the American Revolution." Not to be missed. Some historians categorize the Battles of Saratoga as one of the top 15 battles in world history.

TWO NIGHT TOUR FROM BENNINGTON, VT TO SARATOGA, NY
his tour tracks British General John Burgoyne's route that started in St. Jean's, Quebec Canada and resulted in his defeat at the Battles of Saratoga, NY. Follow his final approach to Albany, NY as he tried in vain to re-supply his starving army at Bennington, VT. The general was handed a devastating blow by patriot heroics at The Battle of Bennington. This event became a major causative factor in his surrender at Saratoga, known throughout the world as: "The Turning Point of the American Revolution".
First night:
rrive in Bennington Friday early afternoon. If you like, ride a short loop to Old Bennington. Options include: 1) a tour of the Bennington Museum (see the famous exhibits of Grandma Moses paintings, the Bennington flag and the Battle of Bennington room) or the Bennington Monument. Ride by the homes that made up the original 1740's settlement of Bennington, VT, or 2) ride to North Bennington and tour the Park McCullough House. That night, after an elegant dinner witness the unique attraction of hosts Kyle and Lynn Jenks entertaining you with an 18th century vignette dressed in authentic 18th century clothing. The next morning ride a scenic and historic route from Bennington, VT, into NY State, through the Bennington and Saratoga Battlefields and end the ride in Saratoga Springs, NY. Includes a ride by the famous Grandma Moses homestead.
Second night:
hat evening stay in a striking architectural masterpiece Bed & Breakfast establishment, and enjoy an elegant, multi course dinner.
pend a second day in the Spa city in one of two ways. 1) Explore the unique sites within one of the most famous cities in the country by bicycling or walking or 2) Partake in another scenic bicycle ride of your choice, including a different route back to Bennington if your car is parked there. (Options will be thoroughly explained and illustrated.)
